Why Program Management
"From managing tasks to orchestrating symphonies." That's how I would describe my journey from Project Management to
ProgrammanagementI was a projectmanager in my early career, juggling tasks, deadlines, and resources. It was all about delivering a specific project within the set parameters.
But as I moved up the ladder, I realized that the view gets broader, and so does the responsibility 😉
Transitioning to a Programmanager role was like stepping back from the canvas to see the bigger picture 🖼
It was no longer about individual tasks but about aligning multiple projects to achieve strategic objectives 🎯
I had to shift my focus from managing to leading, tasks to strategy, micro to macro.
It was challenging, but it was also a journey of growth and learning 📈
I learned to see the interconnections, balance multiple priorities, and lead teams toward a common vision.
If you're a Project Manager looking to make this transition, here's my advice:
Start thinking beyond tasks. Understand the strategic objectives behind your projects.
Learn to see the bigger picture. Most importantly, you should develop your leadership and program management skills.
I recommend considering the PgMP certification if you're a project or program manager looking to level up your career.
